Williamsport Soccer Complex - The Millionaires' boys soccer team welcomed their cross-town rival for a non-league game on Saturday morning.  Loyalsock entered the game on a three-game win streak and although it's still early in the season, they're undefeated.  Having only given up one goal so far, the Lancers were ready for the challenge going up against Williamsport.

In the first half, both teams experienced their fair share of possession of the ball and the action seemed to back and forth, but it was Loyalsock who gained momentum near the end of the first half as they continued to press the Millionaires.  Williamsport's defense held strong though and while Loyalsock was able to strike a few shots at keeper Elliott Wannop, they never allowed the Lancers a great look at the goal and the half ended with no scoring. 

In the second half, the intensity picked up for both squads.  Loyalsock opened the scoring as their forward was able to maneuver around Williamsport's keeper for a one-goal advantage.  Williamsport began to go on the attack with more persistence and, finally, with less than ten minutes to go, junior standout Jimmy Pombor netted the equalizer.  The Millionaires had two other decent looks at the net, but couldn't come away with a game winner.  With one minute and eighteen seconds left in the game, the Lancers were awarded a penalty kick.  After converting on that opportunity, Loyalsock secured the victory.  

The Williamsport JV team beat Loyalsock, 2-1.  Freshman Connor Poole scored both goals for the Millionaires.

Williamsport hosts Shikellamy on Tuesday night at the Williamsport Soccer Complex for its first night game of the season.  The JV game begins at 5:30 with the Varsity contest to follow.
