Williamsport Soccer Complex - The Williamsport Millionaires boys soccer team played their first night game of the young season last night under the lights on the Balls Mills turf.  "I think most of the kids who play seem to have a little extra energy when they play a night game," stated coach Kaar.  The Millionaire boys, in their all cherry-red uniforms, seemed to agree as they raced out to a large first half lead and cruised to an 8-1 victory last night.

Junior Jimmy Pombor was a force to be reckoned with in last night's game as he, along with his teammates in the midfield, controlled the pace of play all night long.  Williamsport immediately utilized spacing and give-and-goes throughout the pitch to create numerous chances within the first several minutes of the game.  Three and a half minutes into the game, freshman Angelo Casas opened Williamsport's scoring when he received a pass from Pombor, giving the Millionaires an early one goal advantage.  Just two minutes later, Pombor found fellow senior Kaleb McKeon, who was just inside the eighteen, for a blast into the back of the net to go up by two.  Coach Kaar added, "Jimmy attracts a lot of attention and the other forwards and middies were able to work off his runs to get great looks at the net tonight."  Then, sophomore Zach Lake got involved in the scoring action as he also drilled home a pass, inside the eighteen, from Pombor.  The Millionaires scored six goals from ten shots on goal in the first half.

The Millionaire boys tallied two more goals in the second half, one again from Pombor and also one from Casas.  On the night sophomore Owen Kaar tallied two assists and senior Thomas Harper added one as well.  After the game, coach Kaar noted, "It was good to see more movement off the ball and a little more creativity in our final third.  We're still not 100% as we're dealing with some injuries, but tonight was a step in the right direction."

The JV team played to a 1-1 tie.  The Millionaires created quality opportunities, but were only able to capitalize on the one.  Freshman Cole Wheeler netted Williamsport's lone goal.

Williamsport is on the road Thursday night as they test their skills against the Danville Ironmen.
